Our Story & Cowboy Heritage
Welcome to the story behind Double R Western™—a western wear brand rooted in the rugged landscapes of southeast Idaho and built on generations of cowboy heritage and western values. Since 1896, just six years after Idaho became a state, my ancestors settled on 300 acres below Packsaddle Lake—carving out a life in the heart of the Teton Basin (Tetonia, ID). Their journey, resilience, and connection to the land are the foundation of Double R Western™ and our commitment to authentic western wear.
My great-great-grandfather Franz embodied the pioneering spirit that defines Double R Western™. The family’s path from Montana to Idaho led to hands-on work—digging spillways for irrigation and embracing steam-powered tools for logging. Their dedication to farming and building a home from the ground up continues to inspire our commitment to quality and honoring the Western lifestyle.
Today, Double R Western™ offers a wide range of men’s and women’s western wear, including graphic t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, and home goods—all inspired by the untamed beauty of the West and grounded in cowboy heritage. Our collections reflect the spirit of adventure, resilience, and tradition that runs through our family’s story and the western values we celebrate.
The image on our homepage features members of the Rudolph family—a name steeped in Western tradition. This legacy connects us to the land we cherish and the values we uphold. The mighty bison featured on our homepage, captured through my lens as a professional photographer, represents the untamed beauty of the West and our support for Native American communities, including bison restoration initiatives.
